Hi everyone!
My name is Keri Drish and I am just beginning my third semester in the TEML (previously referred to as MAT) program with a concentration in elementary education.
I was born and raised in Johnson City, TN. I left for 4 years to attend the University of Tennessee (GO VOLS) and graduated from there in 2009. I majored in exercise science and I had an internship working as a student trainer in the Men's Athletic Department Training Room. Although I loved my major, working with those college athletes made me rethink my career path. After much contemplation, I decided to return to Johnson City and enroll in the TEML program in the Fall of 2009. My parents are definitely looking forward to my graduation in May! My dad keeps telling me that one day I will have to get out of college and get a real job! =)
I work in the TEML office as a graduate assistant. On the days when I am not working in the office, I substitute teach for Johnson City Schools. I decided I needed as much practice in the classroom as possible before I have a classroom of my own!
In my spare time I love to travel! I generally spend my summers traveling around the UK which is such an amazing experience and I feel very blessed to have that opportunity! I also enjoy exercising and I have a love/hate relationship with running. I hate it at the time, but I love the feeling afterwards! I also enjoy watching my UT vols. It does not matter what sport, as long as the athletes are wearing the big orange power T on their uniforms. After attending UT and working in the athletic department, my blood is definitely orange!
I am looking forward to this semester, because as with running, I have a love/hate relationship with technology! I hope this class will help to ease some of that hate. =)
